THE BEAUTIFUL STORY

APPLIED ART

Or how it all starts with a petit Lu

The beautiful story of our group began in a sculpture workshop in the 1980s. Jacques Tenenhaus, sculptor and art professor for over 20 years, was searching for a new application of his art. One day, a friend told him about advertising items that require his talents to make windows, He decided to give it a try by imagining a composite material made from plaster that allowed both molding and reproduction. Among his creations, he made a plate in the shape of a biscuit, which he presented to Lu, the famous biscuit maker. Impressed by the quality of the reproduction, Lu proposed to develop a complete range of objects with the effigy of their iconic little Lu. Clocks, coasters and other plates are created to celebrate the brand’s upcoming centenary. Jacques then decided to create a company dedicated to this activity, FORMES & SCULPTURES which presents to mooving (the ancestor of Maison & Objets) the entire collection. The success was immediate, it is the queue on the show and orders are coming from all sides!

UNITY IS STRENGTH

Or how to transition from the workshop to industrialization

A major problem arose: how to produce such a large quantity of orders? The artisanal method of molding is no longer sufficient, it is necessary to quickly find another mode of production. On the show, Jacques met a manufacturer specializing in polyurethane products in Bléré, in Touraine (PAB, Plastique Alvéolaire Blérois). After many adjustments, the result was perfect and the orders were successfully fulfilled. With this resounding succes, merchandising professionals sought Jacques’ sculpting talents to reproduce various shapes and materials, featuring perfumes or cosmetics for their luxury clients. Mathias, Jacques' only son and a salesman at heart, came to help his father and develop the activity to make the company known. Very quickly, Jacques decided to acquire the factory, aiming to become essential and secure the production process. Mathias took over the management and introduced many skills, such as cardboard, injection molding and marquetry, to complete the service offer. FORMES & SCULPTURES goes from being a subcontractor to becoming a partner for major players in the cosmetics industry and rapidly expanded its operations.

THE SPIRIT OF CONQUEST

Or how to open up to the rest of the world

With this recognition, and to accelerate the progress, the father and son decided to divide the territories. Mathias developed the factory in France and the European market with a partner in Eastern Europe, while Jacques invested in China, at a time when luxury players are beginning to explore the Chinese market that is opening up to the world. Both deploy the company by relying on the human. The recruited teams are as passionate about their job, and grew alongside the company. Camille Flahaut, who started as a young intern, was entrusted with the creation of the Bléré design office and quickly climbed the various ranks of the company to take over the management of the plant and instil method and process into the teams. The group is structuring itself, and is embarking on a CSR initiative. New professions complete the offer, such as Cartoon & Gauthier PLV, specializing in masstige and pharmacy, The VM Factory, for «ready for use» furniture, and AVEC, a structure dedicated to innovation and new materials. The ambition is clear: to become an international and committed group, in packaging and digital retail. The group remains true to its first profession, sculpture, and even has an art gallery where great artists regularly exhibit, glorifying like everyone in the group, FORMES & SCULPTURES!
